Kirobo, a talking robot designed by Toyota, packed its bags last night, pre-flight. Zero hour, 9 a.m.. That's because it's headed to space as part of a joint project between the automaker and Japan's space exploration unit, known as JAXA, and Tony Divino Toyota in Riverdale, UT would like to share some of the cool details of its upcoming journey with you.

Standing at just a foot tall and weighing two pounds, Kirobo is a talking robot that is able to recognize voices. Its goal is to head to the International Space Station to conduct a series of conversational tests with Japanese astronauts. This also is going to have an impact on the new Toyota models found in our Riverdale, UT showroom, too. The software that Kirobo uses is likely to be utilized inside vehicles as part of the next-generation entune infotainment system.

After the testing, Kirobo is going to be flying solo at the space station, as they intend to see how it interacts with others in space. There's also going to be a clone bot, called Mirata, which will be on ground control, which will be able to evaluate if Kirobo has made the grade, or if it's floating in a most peculiar way.

We're looking forward to hearing about the project, and if there are any cool tidbits of information to share, we'll pass it along on our blog, so follow us today. Until then, you can stop in and see us where our team would be happy to highlight new Toyota models, answer any questions you might have, and set up test drives around Riverdale, UT.
