A Comparison of the Toyota RAV4 vs. the Honda CR-V

The Toyota RAV4 is so well designed and so capable, it's become the most popular vehicle of any kind in the country. It offers an affordable price, plenty of space and excellent fuel economy. Meanwhile, the Honda CR-V is another popular compact crossover that has a lot going for it and might also be on your shopping list. A Comparison of Performance

The new Toyota RAV4 is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine  that generates 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The CR-V runs with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with an output of 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet torque, managed by a continuously variable transmission.  So the Toyota RAV4 wins the first round by giving Ogden, UT drivers more horsepower and more torque than the Honda CR-V.

The RAV4 Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, connected to a continuously variable transmission and assisted by three electric motors.  Combined output adds up to 219 horsepower. Meanwhile the Honda CR-V's hybrid powertrain, which pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with two electric motors, produces 204 horsepower, which is 15 less than the hybrid RAV4, so once again, the Toyota SUV comes out on top for Logan, UT buyers.

The standard RAV4 gets 35 MPG on Layton, UT highways compared with 34 highway MPG in the Honda CR-V. Both support wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, but the RAV4 includes those as standard across every trim level while the Honda CR-V gives you only wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ as standard technology.

The standard audio system in the Toyota RAV4 comes with six speakers compared with only four speakers in the Honda CR-V. The available premium audio system in the Toyota RAV4 is a JBL system with 11 speakers vs. only eight speakers in the Honda CR-V.
