Toyota's U.S. manufacturing facility in Tupelo, Mississippi is a very well-functioning and thriving plant due to a substantial Toyota investment of 800 million dollars.
Not only does Toyota's endowment to this plant show its dedication to its American operations, but it also does a lot of good for the area's local economy providing around 2,000 quality jobs for citizens from Tupelo and beyond.
New models built in Toyota's Mississippi plant are forged from globally-source Toyota parts and are then exported to a number of markets across the globe.
And now, the number of markets Toyota exports to has just gotten even larger thanks to a recent announcement from the Japanese automaker that it is intending to deliver U.S-built versions of its Toyota Corolla to 18 additional countries in both Latin America and the Caribbean for 2014.
With this move, Toyota is hoping to build upon its all-time record export from 2012 when it moved more than 124,000 of its vehicles from its U.S. plants to more than 20 global markets.
Speaking even more to its purpose, Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota's North America Region adds, "... the export of U.S.-built Corolla sedans to Latin America and the Caribbean will help to further solidify our U.S. manufacturing base."1
Pretty interesting, wouldn't you say?
